Colónis aPanamaniancity andsea portbeside theCaribbean Sea, lying near theAtlanticentrance to thePanama Canal. It is the capital of Panama'sColón Provinceand has traditionally been known as Panama'ssecond city. Originally, it was located entirely onManzanillo Island, surrounded byLimon Bay,Manzanillo Bayand theFolks River, but, since the disestablishment of thePanama Canal Zone, the city's limits have been redefined to includeFort Gulick, a formerU.S. Armybase, as well the former Canal Zone towns ofCristobal,MargaritaandCoco Solo.
